What is shogi?

Shogi (将棋) is Japan's equivalent of chess. It is played on a 9x9 board with 40 pieces. Like chess, the goal is to checkmate your opponent's King, but you may also deploy pieces you have captured back onto the board as your own.

Do I need to know how to play?

Players of all skill levels are welcome to join us! If you don't know how to play, we'll teach you from the ground up!

Where does the club meet?

We meet every Sunday at the Starbucks at 1301 Yelm Hwy SE at 7:00 am.
